Speaker, Golden Gate Bridge Jump Survivor

On August 20th, 1985, my life changed forever. In an attempt to end my life (my 2nd attempt), I jumped off of the Golden Gate Bridge. Since that day I have talked publicly about my battle with depression and my struggles to keep feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness at bay. I have worked very hard at learning to control my anxiety and depression, and I have developed tools to help me work through those “bad days." I would like to share those tools with others.

In 1993 I became a high school teacher in Northern California. I taught Architecture and Engineering for 25 years before retiring in June of 2018.

In 2017 I became a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) suicide prevention trainer. I have worked with both Calaveras and Amador counties behavioral health as a contractor providing QPR presentation to the behavioral health staff and community members.
