Disability Response provides a 3-day, 24 hour long, training program that is California POST (Police Officers Standards and Training) and California STC (Standards and Training for Corrections) certified.  The POST certification also includes certification for Field Training Officers pursuant to SB29. Training topics cover, but are not limited to:

  • Overview of Mental Illness, mood disorders, thought disorders, clinical depression, signs, symptoms and treatment options.

  • Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

  • Dynamics of Homelessness

  • Returning Veterans
  • Officer Safety in contacts with those in crisis. Suicide by Cop, current case law relating to contacts with the Mentally Ill. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in first responders, treatment options and officer wellness programs.
  • Agitated Chaotic Events (formerly known as Excited Delirium)
  • De Escalation and Crisis Communication
  • Suicide Awareness
  • Presentations by family members of those with Mental Illness and by persons experiencing mental illness
  • Local resources available to you, your staff or agency
